The Rationalists and Atheists

It's officially official! I, along with my friends, Jeremy and Matt, have started our our university's first ever atheist club. We're called the Rationalists and Atheists and we're newly affiliated with the Secular Student Alliance.

We held our first meeting yesterday and were absolutely thrilled with the turnout. It was amazing to see how many people wanted to get involved and work toward de-stigmatizing atheism.

Our club plans to hold many events, including a group trip to see Religulous on October 3. We're also in the process of arranging a guest speaker as well as debates between us and the Christian organization on campus.

Pray for our future success as an organization that works for the ideals of rational thinking, skepticism, and the separation of church and state :-)

Hey thats great, Congrats!
How are you advertising your group?

We'll advertise by putting up fliers, writing meeting dates on the sidewalks in chalk, sitting at a table on the quad and recruiting people, and by creating a Facebook group and related events online.

Our budget hearing was today. Fingers crossed we get enough money to get t-shirts and hold our Flying Spaghetti Monster dinner!
